SMS, or text messaging, is a two-way communication with a maximum of 160 characters, conducted between two cell phone numbers or between a telephone number and a specific five-digit code (a “short code”). Keywords are short text messages, like DONATE or GIVE. GoGo uses a standardized short code and individualized, organization-specific keywords to streamline the donation process. This means that all of our clients can use the same short code, but their unique keywords differentiate where consumers’ donations are directed. This not only simplifies the process for nonprofit organizations, but it allows GoGo to keep costs down and ensure that the maximum amount of each donation is delivered to our clients.
